"Lord, teach us to...doodle."

doodling.jpgAccording to Sybal MacBeth, a mathematics instructor who also teaches workshops on prayer, Christians can pray by doodling. That's right. Doodling. Check out Christianity Today's article here.

I am not sure what I find more disturbing: the fact that this person is promoting a false form of prayer that invites idolatry (note what she says about carrying the visual images with you throughout the day) or that Christianity Today finds this interesting enough to run it as their headline story in "CT Direct," their daily cyber-magazine. It seems that in our narcissistic culture, we never tire of finding new ways to express ourselves, even if it means neglecting what our Lord taught us about prayer. I guess the Incarnate Lord teaching other humans how to pray wasn't completely useful in helping us to be "transparent, accessible, and human."
