C & E is heavy reading, but it is essential stuff for anyone who preaches and/or teaches the Bible, or anyone interested in a covenantal (and confessional) methodology of interpretation.

Everything I have read by Ridderbos is excellent. This little book on Redemptive History and the New Testament is no exception. Particularly helpful are Ridderbos's points on how we know if a book is canonical.

A little easier to tackle than Biblical Theology, Vos's Redemptive History and Biblical Interpretation include many of his essays and shorter writings. This is indispensable material ofr understanding covenant theology and teh redemptive-historical nature of the canon of Scripture. Included among the many articles are Vos's extrememly helpful "The Idea of Biblical Theology as a Science and as a Theological Discipline," "Hebrews, the Epistle of the Diatheke," and "The Doctrine of the Covenant in Reformed Theology." Highly recommended for pastors and serious students of covenant theology and prolegomena
